*edit - I fixed it so that the red button on the bottom-left that Used to take you to the Guestbook now takes you to the Discuss forum. It means I won't have to change the page name. 

Here's what I wanted: 

A way to make this place a bit more interactive. I like being able to chat with you guys, but the Contact form seemed a bit formal to some. 

Here's what I did:

I downloaded a comment thread thingamajig from Disqus and ran a few tests.

Here's what I found:

I like it! It's plenty interactive and much more inviting than the Guestbook.

Here's where I screwed up:

I didn't realize changing the name of the URL (meaning /home/real name vs. /home/tester name) would totally change threads. It shouldn't mean much of anything to you, but it does mean that I am stuck with the uninspired link Discuss until I decide to scrap every comment on there and start fresh with a different page name. 

Also, I'm hearing that you have to sign up for Disqus in order to use it. I enabled guest comments; not sure where I screwed up there. Anyways, it is still in the trial stage, so I may very well scrap it once I work out the kinks.

I finally wrote some new poetry! Originally, I was going to leave it as the first three lines "I want to live inside your heart like a mirror hung inside a closet", hence the "Post Script:" title. It was supposed to be just a brief little sigh, you know? I've posted a new blog called "Parade Candy" and I think I'd like to make it something I do semi-regularly. It's a nice lighthearted change of pace from the usual doom and gloom of personal matters. Feel free to leave comments with topics you'd like to see discussed! And by "discussed", I mean "disgust". I'm not very knowledgeable :)

I also wrote a new short story! It's titled "Can you come inside, please?" and I swear, it's not dirty. You dirty, dirty bastards.

So I got this sweet new desk from work, right? I got it home today, this very morning, and felt powerfully aroused and excited to have a little space to myself to do what I (used to) love doing. I wane so often. More ebbs than flows. I wrote a little Part One of a likely three part series. I'm getting back into the mood, though. My whistle is wet and my lips are puckered. Navigational Tweaks and New Poetry Added 05/13/15

Since I'm hoping Pass to the Left podcast will be a longtime commitment, I have cleaned up that page and created a clickable table of contents (as well as a separate page for the archive). I will be doing the same with Your Friendly Neighborhood Concession Stand. I have also added a new poem titled, "Pigeon Holes" which you can find - HERE

Pass to the Left & Your Friendly Neighborhood Concession Stand first episodes Uploaded!!  05/06/15

Hip-Hop-Hooray! Your Friendly Neighborhood Concession Stand has uploaded its very first episode!! I overcame several major roadblocks today in my software learning journey, so it is very possible that I'll be able to upload a Pass to the Left podcast, as well! I'm sure I don't have to tell you (because I'll tell you three more times before you ever make it to the recording), this first recording isn't perfect. We're all new and learning and that's what I love about it. Like this website, which started out VERY different from what you see today, everyone is growing and sharpening their skills, so you'll get to see us grow up in real-time, as they say. 

Also! I've just uploaded Pass to the Left's first podcast! Again, there are some sound issues, but bare with us and bear with us. ...hug me.

I began my web building adventure at the New Year and now, five months later, I have seen my journey through to the next logical step and purchased my own domain. If you haven't noticed, the .jimdo has been dropped from the URL and now reads: www.brittanymortega.com 

Neat, huh? I think so. However, some things did not survive the amputation and all of my "likes" seem to have disappeared into the digital ether. How can you help? I'm glad you asked! New Scheduled Weekly Content On the Horizon! 04/04/15

Hello, you beautiful, anonymous web viewers! Let us cut to the chase, shall we? I don't feel I need to beat around any bushes with you. Let's just be forward. No small talk. Just. Come right out and say it. Here goes. I mean, lots of people would dance around a subject like this, but not me. I'm a straight shooter. 

Alright, alright. Creation is hard. There, I said it. My writing is such a fragile creature these days that it can hardly stand up tall enough on its own to support this site. And, let's face it, successful sites have fresh content people can count on. How do I plan to do this? With a PODCAST! Myself, along with three other wonderfully diverse individuals will be recording a test pilot this Monday, which will be recorded via video, as well. I am very much looking forward to keeping this place pruned and weeded and trying out something new in the process!

I am constantly striving to make this place cleaner, so I have made some small UI changes that I hope will aid in website navigation. New Search Box feature! 02/23/15

New search feature! It isn't near complete right now, but here pretty soon, within the next week, you will be able to type in a title in the little search box on the left-hand side of the screen and it should redirect you to where you want to go! I added this because I realized I didn't alphabetize my work. Sure. I could have done that, but exploring the wide world of source coding is more fun. 

New Covers and Original Upload 02/21/15

New additions to the Music tab! I have added three more covers and one half-written original. Exciting, huh? I'll finish it, I'll finish it....

Oh! I've moved the Music tab over to the Blog section. Why? I don't know. As long as I've been playing music, I've never taken it as seriously as I probably should have. If I experience a creative surge, then I'll likely make Music its own section again, but until that time, it can sit in a room with an obstructed view.

 As you, whoever you are, have likely noticed, this place has undergone some pretty drastic cosmetic surgery. What do you think? Honestly? I don't want to be that gamma radiation monster at the dance with her teeth scraping the cubes of cheese, you know? Anyways, go on over to the "Contact Me" section and tell me what you think! Other than aesthetics, I seem to be lacking the ability to link my poetry titles with the poems themselves. This is likely an elementary problem with an elementary solution, but I tell you, I am flummoxed. Oh! Speaking of problem solving, many thanks goes out to William with the Jimdo Service Tech Team!  Alright! I still haven't quite figured out how to create links and proper tables of contents, but! I Have divided the works up so that it's not all one giant list. To those of you who have stopped by, I'd like to sincerely thank you for taking an interest in my writing. I'd also like to apologize for how slow-going this process is. I am currently using the free version of this web hosting site and there appear to be a number of things that are only available to red-blooded, green-bleeding Americans. Understandable.
